Balls of Joy....I'll let you know in 60 Days

This is my way to garden! For the last 15 years I have lived in two condos and a townhouse. I know absolutely nothing about gardening. Now I have a new house with a front year, side yard, and back yard. I bought the most environmentally friendly lawn mower and trim my hedges by hand. I have also discovered that there are some really fun things out there for gardening. My favorite thing is seed balls. These wonderful little brown balls will explode into colorful wild flowers. I am all about anything that you can just toss and watch grow.

Hammer Time

Always buy something good, buy something that lasts, buy something once and keep it for your entire life. The perfect example of this is Estwing’s, ‘claw hammer’ with a leather handle. It is the only hammer you will ever need. It is something that you can pass down to the next generation.

‘You can’t touch this, break it down. Stop, hammer time….’

Obsessions

If you are a regular reader of my Blog you have probably noticed that I have certain obsessions. Usually I obsess about pizza and shoes, but now I have a new one - CHAIRS! Last year we purchased a stunning pair of Kaare Klint chairs for a Georgetown client. They are the most simple, elegant, and pure chairs I have seen in a long time. These chairs set off my latest obsession. Naturally, I had to find 6 dining room chairs by Kaare Klint. This week we are bidding on this pair of side chairs for a client's home in Chevy Chase, Maryland. It is always fun to have a client that appreciates beautiful furniture and allows me to vicariously feed my new obsession.

National Arboretum

One of the great things about Washington, DC is that it is full of hidden treasures. One of them being the National Arboretum. This time of year it is an unbelievable place to visit. From the azalea gardens, the boxwoods and the bonsai exhibition, this is something you shouldn’t miss. It is located a little bit out of the way (3501 New York Ave NE Washington D.C, 20002) and especially due to the current construction on the New York Avenue bridge it will take some patience but the pay off is breath taking.
